UCI BMX Racing World Cup
This annual elite sports event @Papendal is one event you do not want to miss! During this event strength, technique and courage come together. The world’s best BMX riders compete with each other during this exciting weekend.
BMX
Bicycle Motocross (BMX). One of the most spectacular cycling disciplines. It came over from the United States in the eighties where cross riders rode on motocross tracks with small bikes. Since 2008, BMX is an Olympic sport.
And now more popular than ever before. In the Netherlands too, as our BMX riders rank among the world’s best. So we have seen during the Olympics in 2012 when Laura Smulders won a bronze medal. And in 2016, Jelle van Gorkom won silver in Rio de Janeiro!
And we have got some new BMX medals! During the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 (which were held in 2021) Merel Smulders earned herself a bronze medal and Niek Kimmann won the olympic gold medal.
Manon Veenstra won a brilliant silver medal at the Olympic Games in Paris! BMX is HOT!
